A chiropractor, olympic lifting and strength coach, health & lifestyle consultant and a former national level athlete, Dr. Duriell Bernard understands the importance of functional movement, pain management, performance on demand and their absolute roles they play in daily living. Dr. Bernard is currently practicing in Burnaby, British Columbia out of Total Therapy, and is now seeing patients at Restore Sports Medicine Clinic.

Dr. Bernard graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto and completed four years of a specialty honours degree in Kinesiology Health and Science program at York University. Dr. Bernard is also a trained Neurofunctional, Contemporary Medical Acupuncture provider and a trained TCM acupuncturist (currently not providing acupuncture in BC), and has been providing neuro-functional rehabilitative care for individuals dealing with sport related and traumatic concussions.

Dr. Bernard was the medical lead for Athletics Canada at their Toronto high performance training centre where he has had the opportunity to work with Canada's best track and field athletes. He has also worked for Canadian Sports Institute Ontario (CSI-O) as a team doctor for their Integrated Support Therapy team, and with Dr. David Ablack and the Steel Machines -Strength and Power for Sport- training top NHL, OHL and CFL players. 

Dr. Bernard is an evidence-informed practitioner, and takes a functional and rehabilitative approach to treatment, utilizing a wide variety of soft tissue therapies (myofascial release and myofascial cupping, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy -commonly known as Graston Technique), exercise and electro-modalities to achieve optimum results. Dr. Bernard emphasizes movement based rehabilitation, combining essential movement patterns with daily occupational and sport based movement requirements. 

Dr. Bernard was the lead medical practitioner for Athletics at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. He  worked along side Canada's best sport medicine practitioners to facilitate the needs of  over 7,000 athletes participating in 51 Pan Am and Parapan Am sports. 

During the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games,  Dr. Bernard had the tremendous honour in joining team Canada as medical staff, and being the sole Canadian chiropractor at the games. In 2019 at the Work Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, Dr. Bernard once again had the great honour to provide care for Canada’s best para athletes.
